AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON GREEN CEMENT CONTAINING FLY ASH ALONG WITH INDUSTRIAL ADDITIVE

Abstract: The use of fly ash (FA) in concrete as a partial substitute for cement is becoming more and more significant. The quality of FA was enhanced by technological advancements in thermal power plant operations and FA collection systems. FA is a waste product that is produced when pulverized coal is burned in power plants. It is thought to be a major cause of air, water and soil pollution, which can have negative effects on human health as well as a number of environmental issues. The use of FA in cement could reduce the impact of pollution on the environment and the consumption of natural resources. All construction projects nowadays must be completed on time and under budget while maintaining a high standard of quality. Therefore, in the current study, lime sludge (LS), an industrial waste, is utilized to produce green cement in an effort to increase the effective exploitation of FA. Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) including FA ranging (20, 30, 40, and 50%) and the use of FA variable (5, 15, 25, and 35%) plus 15% LS in terms of the physical characteristics of cement have been investigated. The results of this study will contribute to the use of up to 50% FA plus LS with appropriate compressive strength for the purpose to save limestone (CaCO3) and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2).
